So now it was time to rip up the old floor. This included the tiles/screed in the entrance and kitchen and the carpet/screed in the kids TV room. I had high hopes this would be an easy job, as during the kitchen wall removal, a bit of the floor had come up very easily..
Plan A = FAIL
Plan B = FAIL
Plan C = SUCCESS!
The kitchen floor came up pretty well, mostly large chunks and without too much effort.

This changed abruptly when I hit the 18 square meters between the kitchen and the front door, where the floor seemed to break away from the slab like shortbread biscuits. Sorry to the neighbors, but they must have been hating me at this point!

Kitchen to front door done!

No time for the kids TV room.. This bit came up really well, so was glad to be able to stop the hammer by 4:30PM on the second day of hammering.

So no just need to clean up the mess, and then grind the the remaining screed back to the slab.. not looking forward to that bit! Might need to call in a favour or two to help with the clean-up!
