A really important part of the upgrades to the kids rooms, and the rest of the house for that matter, is replacing all of the glass and window frames. The original windows in the kids rooms are 3mm glass and offer absolutely no protection from the heat in summer on the hottest side of the house.
The frames also needed a shit load of work in stripping them back from the state they were in, just so that we could restore them, so we decided to rip and replace them all with new black aluminium frames, and put 6.38mm laminated glass to protect from the heat (and cold). Here is some before pics….
And now for the after!….. love the result!!!!!
I am now placing the order for the rest of the main house windows… same style, just a bit more complicated in the living areas where there is sooo much glass. Will do a part 2 post for that one too!
I have also been working on some of the changes to walls, and bulkheads. You can see below the bulkhead that I am building to cover the beam (which will most likely be gyprock’d) and the extension and plastering of the wall in the kids TV room. The wall was just a bit to short for a 3 seater couch, and I wanted to be able to mount a desk on the opposite site of that wall, for the kids to have a computer and be able to do home work etc.
Looks great Nathan congratulations
