Da floor – The Finish

So final steps taken yesterday and today to finish the concrete floor off, and a big relief that it looks like we had planned.

Yesterday they did the final polish of the concrete to get it to its final state. I was pretty happy with how that looked as it was, but the guys told me then that I should hold off any judgement until after the next day.

So today they switch out the polisher for a burnisher, basically a polishing machine with a flame thrower built into it. They spread the final acrylic coating onto the floor and then run the burnisher over the whole area to burn the topping onto the floor. This is what seals it and sets the polish, so that it won’t scratch or stain.

Sample on our finished floor… I actually prefer ours being slightly darker.
